1928
Starting a business.
A success story begins: Karasto Maschinen- und Apparatebau Ing. Klein + Raff is founded in Stuttgart. The businessman Julius Oehler takes over the company in 1929.
1932
GEKA quick coupling.
Julius Oehler invents the GEKA quick coupling and has it patented. Production of water hose and industrial fittings, hose trolleys, sprinklers, nozzles and watering wands is expanded.
1944
New management team.
Following the death of Julius Oehler, his wife Elisabeth Oehler and their daughter Hannelore took over the management of the company together.
1950
New buildings, a new look.
1950/1952: A complex comprising production, administrative and residential buildings is constructed in Fellbach. Alfred Naß, a technical sales representative and husband of Hannelore Naß (née Oehler), joins the company – initially as an authorised signatory. He plays a key role in shaping the company in the years that follow.
1954
Exhibition stand.
KARASTO’s core range will be on display at this stand: brass fittings, watering wands, hose trolleys, and industrial and gardening products.
1986
Introduction of IT.
Carola Reese (née Naß), who holds a degree in business administration, joins the company. This year, Karasto introduces computer systems.
1997
Website.
GEKA now has a presence on the World Wide Web: the company’s first website has gone live. The website also features an integrated online shop.
1999
Quick coupling – next generation.
The GEKA quick coupling, which has been a hallmark of Karasto for decades, is being further developed into the GEKA plus quick coupling.
2008
80 years.
Karasto is celebrating its 80th anniversary. In the same year, the company is moving into its new, modern premises on Manfred-von-Ardenne-Allee in Backnang.
2009
Plug-in systems.
Introduction of the GEKA plus brass push-fit system. A push-fit system that remains unrivalled to this day.
2012
New design.
The GEKA brand is getting a new corporate identity, including a brand-new logo. A new website is also set to go live this year.
2019
Certified quality management.
The company’s quality management system is being certified to ISO 9001:2015 for the first time.
2024
Ground-breaking ceremony.
Start of construction work on the new logistics centre.
2025
Certified environmental management.
The company’s environmental management system is being certified to ISO 14001 for the first time. This marks another step towards sustainability.
2025
Logistics warehouse.
The expanded logistics hall is now operational. The new building, covering 3,600 square metres, lays the foundations for greater efficiency and future-proofing.
2025
Drinking water programme revised.
GEKA has already brought its entire range of drinking water products into line with future legal requirements, once again proving itself to be ahead of the curve.
2026
Website relaunch.
GEKA’s completely redesigned website is now live.
